Deion Sanders is not just a successful coach and when he’s not on the field, he’s out there influencing diverse admissions at colleges and making big bucks for companies. The proof in the pudding is with his Prime sunglasses collection with Blenders. Having Coach Prime on your team has proven to be a good business move. Just before their release, the Prime sunglasses collection attracted over 70,000 preorders and made $4.5 million in revenue.
Why This Matters: Coach Prime is a masterclass on what influence is. His ability to integrate his diverse dealings in his life and other businesses is what makes him a successful businessman. The sunglasses were priced at $67 when they launched, moved to $79 in December 2023 and are already at $89 in 2024. This is not exactly affordable to the common everyday consumer but he is able to influence his audience and tap into other audiences. Coach Prime is involved with other brands and Blenders Eyewear can benefit from cross-promotion opportunities through his appearances, interviews, and social media platforms. This can lead to increased brand engagement and potentially drive sale
For instance, he has already gifted 150 pairs of his sunglasses to his CU Boulder community where he coaches. His association with Blenders Eyewear adds a certain level of credibility that makes people willing to purchase from the brand regardless of the price. The sunglasses are barely a year old and they’ve already sold over 200,000 pairs. This roughly translates to a revenue of $13 million. Blenders can definitely say they made a great choice.
