Fast Company: The Tech Industry’s Missed Opportunity: Funding Black Women

The average black woman startup founder raises $36K, while the average white male founder raises $1.3M, according to Fast Company. Despite this, a number of black women are building really impressive companies, some of which are highlighted in this piece and in the rest of the newsletter. (Shout out to Angelina, Cherae, and Nicaila.)

Fortunately, we are seeing more black-owned venture capital firms sprouting up. Hopefully, that shifts the arc of funding for black women. I look forward to the black community get to that point where a cycle is built of founders raising money, building rocket ships, and investing some of their winnings in other startups with black founders.
